Job Description: Artisan Learnerships

Anglo American Platinum is offering a Three-year Artisan Learnership Program, specifically designed for external unemployed candidates (18.2 B1). Successful candidates will undergo training to qualify as artisans in various fields. The available learnerships are as follows:

1. Learnership Fitter x 1
2. Learnership Boilermaker Plater x 1
3. Learnership Rigger x 1
4. Learnership Earthmoving Mechanic x 2
5. Diesel Mechanic x 2

The Artisan Learnership Program includes a structured curriculum with:

• 1st year: Institutional training at ESTC, Engineering Skills Training Centre.
• 2nd year: On-the-job/core training at Mogalakwena Mine.
• 3rd year: Completion of the trade test.

Qualifications:

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Matric with Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy), Physical Science, and English (all with a minimum 40% pass), or
• N2 or higher with subjects as per specific Discipline Requirements, or
• NCV Level – 4 in an appropriate trade with all subjects passed (minimum 40% pass)

Trade Test Requirements include a minimum of N2 subjects/certificate with applicable subjects for the relevant trade as specified.

Learnership Conditions:

Candidates must:

• Be prepared to work on the surface in open-pit ‘dusty areas.’
• Work according to the area’s schedule, possibly involving shifts.
• Be a South African Citizen.
• Pass the relevant psychometric assessment.
• Have a medical certificate of fitness or be able to obtain one.
• Possess good written and verbal communication skills in English.
• A valid South African Driver’s license will be advantageous.
