Position Overview
Applications are now open for the position of Apprentice Heavy Equipment Mechanic. This opportunity is available to suitably qualified individuals, with priority given to current permanent team members. The successful candidate will contribute to achieving the company’s numerical targets for representivity in terms of race, gender, and disability.
Key Requirements
To be considered for this apprenticeship, applicants must meet one of the following educational criteria:
Grade 12 with Mathematics (Core), Physical Science, Engineering Graphics & Design (EGD), and Mechanical Technology.
N2 Qualification with four subjects, including Mathematics, Engineering Science, Diesel/Motor Trade Theory, and Engineering Drawing or Industrial Electronics.
National Vocational Certificate (NCV) Level 4 in Engineering Related Design (ERD) with seven subjects in Automotive.
Additional requirements include:
- Successful completion of a Technical Assessment, including Numeracy and Literacy components.
- Good physical health, as the role involves strenuous work. Candidates must be prepared to undergo a medical examination.
- A valid Code EB (08) driver’s licence.
- Residency within a 50km radius of the Bell Customer Service Centre.
Advantages
While not mandatory, the following attributes will strengthen an application:
- Prior working experience in the engineering industry.
- Completion of basic hand skills training.
- Possession of a valid passport.
