Job Overview:


Government Administration Clerks play a crucial role in ensuring efficient administrative processes within government departments. They are responsible for handling various administrative tasks, including procurement, budgeting, and record-keeping, in compliance with government regulations and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Support: Obtain written quotes from suppliers, complete requisition forms, and ensure proper approval and commitment of expenditure.

Budget Management: Submit all necessary documents to the budget system to confirm fund availability and obtain expenditure approval.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records in the VA register, including requisition details, supplier information, and order numbers.

Order Processing: Submit documents to stores to generate orders and ensure copies of relevant documents are retained for reference.

Communication: Facilitate communication between departments, suppliers, and relevant stakeholders by faxing necessary documents and maintaining documentation integrity.

Requirements:

National Senior Certificate / NQF Level 4 with no experience.

Basic knowledge of administration processes.

Computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, MS Office Suite, and Outlook.

Good communication skills (verbal and written) with report writing abilities.

Understanding of government prescripts such as the Constitution, Labour relations, Promotion of access of information, and Public Service Act.

Problem-solving and analytical skills.

One (1) year of Public Service internship program experience preferred.
