Job Description:
The South African Police Service (SAPS) is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join their team as a Cleaner. This role is essential in ensuring the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall maintenance of the SAPS premises, contributing to a healthy and safe working environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning tasks both inside and outside the office premises. Cleanliness and hygiene are crucial for the effective operation of any institution, and your role will play a vital part in creating a positive, efficient workspace for SAPS personnel.
The Cleaner will be required to perform routine cleaning activities such as dusting, mopping, sweeping, and sanitizing common areas like offices, restrooms, and kitchens. The role also involves the disposal of waste and safeguarding cleaning materials. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, able to work independently, and ensure that all tasks are completed to the highest standards. The successful applicant must be willing to work extended hours, including weekends or holidays, if necessary. They must also have the ability to handle basic cleaning equipment and materials safely and efficiently.

Minimum Requirements:
- A Grade 10 qualification is advantageous.
- Basic literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions effectively.
- Familiarity with handling and operating elementary cleaning machines and equipment.
- Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends or holidays, if required.
- Ability to work in a team as well as independently when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure that the SAPS premises, both interior and exterior areas, are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
Perform routine cleaning duties such as dusting furniture, sweeping floors, and removing waste and refuse bags.
Mop and sanitize tiled floors to maintain cleanliness and prevent the spread of germs.
Clean and disinfect bathrooms, ensuring they are regularly stocked with essential supplies like soap and toilet paper.
Clean kitchen areas, utensils, and appliances to ensure proper hygiene.
Safeguard and handle a variety of cleaning materials, ensuring they are used efficiently and stored safely.
Report any maintenance issues or required repairs to management promptly.
Assist in the upkeep of other areas, as needed, to support the smooth operation of the office.
