Job Description

South African Breweries (SAB), part of the AB InBev global family, is offering three apprenticeship opportunities in the Millwright trade at its Ibhayi Brewery. This learnership is designed for ambitious individuals who are eager to build a strong career in the brewing and manufacturing industry.

The purpose of the programme is to provide structured, work-based training that combines both theoretical learning and hands-on practical exposure. Over a 3–4 year apprenticeship, successful candidates will gain the technical expertise, safety knowledge, and operational experience required to qualify as Millwright artisans.

As a Millwright apprentice, participants will develop both mechanical and electrical skills, making them versatile artisans capable of installing, maintaining, and repairing industrial machinery in a fast-paced production environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Successfully complete the Millwright apprenticeship programme in line with SAB and SETA standards.
  • Participate in both on-the-job training and formal learning modules to acquire technical competence.
  • Adhere strictly to occupational health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly working environment.
  • Assist in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining plant machinery and production systems.
  • Gain exposure to mechanical and electrical aspects of plant operations, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and automation.
  • Participate in planning, preparation, and execution of maintenance tasks.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects aimed at optimising equipment performance and production processes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Physical Science.
  • National Technical Certificate (N4) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Millwright focus).
  • Higher qualification (N5/N6) in Engineering will be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for mechanical and electrical engineering.
  • Physically fit with good vision (not colour blind).
  • Willingness to attend formal training sessions, including periods in Johannesburg, as required.
