Job Advert Summary

Rand Water is offering an opportunity for 25 unemployed individuals to join its Water and Wastewater Treatment Process Operations Learnership Programme at NQF Level 2. This programme is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills required to operate and maintain water and wastewater treatment plants. Participants will gain hands-on experience, theoretical training, and a nationally recognised qualification upon completion.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this learnership, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Employment Status: Applicants must not be employed.

Educational Enrollment: Applicants must not be enrolled in any institution for a qualification or registered in any other learnership programme.

Qualifications: Applicants must not possess a completed post-matric qualification.

  • Note: Failure to disclose post-matric qualifications will result in disqualification.

Matriculation: Applicants must have a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate with Mathematics and Physical Science, achieving a minimum of Level 3 in ALL subjects.

SAQA/NLRD Verification: Applicants must submit a SAQA/NLRD verification report, obtainable from the SAQA website.

Citizenship: Applicants must be South African citizens with a valid SA ID.

Age: Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old, in line with the NSDSIII guidelines.

  • A certified copy of their Matric Certificate
  • A SAQA/NLRD verification report
  • A comprehensive CV


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

As part of the learnership programme, successful candidates will be required to:

  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants.
  • Monitor water and wastewater quality parameters to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Conduct basic laboratory tests and analyse results.
  • Assist in the maintenance of equipment and instruments used in treatment processes.
  • Participate in water and wastewater sampling and analysis activities.
  • Attend classes and training sessions as part of the learnership curriculum.
  • Engage in discussions, group activities, and practical assignments.
  • Complete assessments, projects, and a practical logbook to evaluate knowledge and understanding.
