Job Requirements

To qualify for the Driver/Handyman position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Educational Qualifications: Grade 10 or school leaving certificate along with a recommendation letter from the principal.
  • Licenses and Permits:
  • Valid driver’s license (Code 8/10/14).
  • Valid Public Driver’s Permit (PDP).
  • Skills:
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take responsibility.
  • Advantageous: Proof of participation in the Public Employment Youth Initiative (PEYI).

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Driving Responsibilities

  • Safely transport learners, goods, and materials while adhering to traffic regulations and safety policies.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and cleanliness.
  • Plan efficient routes to optimize time and fuel usage while ensuring timely arrivals.
  • Maintain an updated logbook and submit petrol slips to the School Management Team monthly.
  • Assist passengers, including learners with special needs, during trips.

Handyman Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical repairs, carpentry, and minor renovations.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and fixtures to ensure proper functioning.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks and repairs.
  • Ensure safe operation and upkeep of facilities, including HVAC systems, lighting, and security measures.
