Job Requirements
To qualify for the Driver/Handyman position, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Educational Qualifications: Grade 10 or school leaving certificate along with a recommendation letter from the principal.
- Licenses and Permits:
- Valid driver’s license (Code 8/10/14).
- Valid Public Driver’s Permit (PDP).
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take responsibility.
- Advantageous: Proof of participation in the Public Employment Youth Initiative (PEYI).
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Driving Responsibilities
- Safely transport learners, goods, and materials while adhering to traffic regulations and safety policies.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and cleanliness.
- Plan efficient routes to optimize time and fuel usage while ensuring timely arrivals.
- Maintain an updated logbook and submit petrol slips to the School Management Team monthly.
- Assist passengers, including learners with special needs, during trips.
Handyman Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical repairs, carpentry, and minor renovations.
- Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and fixtures to ensure proper functioning.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks and repairs.
- Ensure safe operation and upkeep of facilities, including HVAC systems, lighting, and security measures.
