Job Purpose

The purpose of this learnership is to provide candidates with the opportunity to enroll in a National Certificate in Food and Beverage Packaging (NQF Level 3). This one-year fixed-term program combines both theoretical training and practical, hands-on experience in packaging operations, culminating in the achievement of a nationally recognized qualification. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are looking to build a career in the packaging industry.


Key Outputs and Responsibilities

As part of the learnership, participants will engage in:

Structured Learning Program

  • The program includes both theoretical learning in a classroom setting and practical learning within the workplace.
  • Off-the-job training focuses on acquiring foundational knowledge and theoretical understanding in food and beverage packaging processes.
  • On-the-job training provides valuable practical experience, allowing learners to apply their theory and gain hands-on skills in packaging operations.

National Qualification Framework (NQF) Registration

  • The learnership leads to a qualification that is registered on the NQF and recognized across South Africa.
  • It includes unit standards aligned with industry requirements, reflecting critical workplace skills and knowledge that directly contribute to career growth in the packaging field.

Competence-Based Assessment

  • Learners will demonstrate their competency in the workplace by applying the theory they have learned and carrying out essential tasks under supervision.
  • Multiple assessment methods, including practical and written tests, will be used to evaluate workplace performance against SAQA (South African Qualifications Authority) standards.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this learnership, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Matric Certificate with Mathematics and English as subjects.
  • Technical Courses (N3, N4, N5, or N6) will be advantageous, but not essential.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • A keen eye for detail and the ability to focus on quality and precision.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact well with colleagues, supervisors, and clients.

Site Locations

The learnership is available at the following SAB sites:

  • Gauteng: Chamdor, Alrode, Rosslyn
  • Limpopo: Polokwane
  • KwaZulu-Natal: Prospecton
  • Eastern Cape: Ibhayi
  • Western Cape: Newlands

Candidates will be placed at one of these locations, depending on availability and operational needs.
