Job Description

As an Apprentice Transportation Electrician, you will be actively involved in the maintenance and repair of advanced automotive electrical systems at BMW’s Rosslyn plant. This programme is structured to provide apprentices with comprehensive hands-on training, exposure to cutting-edge automotive technology, and mentorship from industry experts. Throughout the 3-year programme, participants will split their time between theoretical classes and practical, on-the-job training, gaining a deep understanding of automotive electronics, diagnostics, wiring, electrical installations, and system repairs.

Key responsibilities include:

Learning and Applying Theoretical Knowledge: Attend structured training to cover the theoretical aspects of automotive electrical systems.

Hands-on Practical Training: Gain practical skills in diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of electrical components within BMW vehicles, under the guidance of seasoned professionals.

Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve electrical issues within automotive systems, applying critical thinking and technical skills.

Compliance and Safety: Adhere to BMW’s safety standards and quality protocols while ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this apprenticeship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Academic Qualifications:

Completed Matric with a minimum of 50% in Mathematics (not Maths Literacy) and 50% in Physical Science; OR

An NQF 4/N3 in Engineering Studies with a minimum of 50% in both Mathematics and Engineering Science.

Additional Qualification (Advantageous): N2 Engineering studies with relevant trade theory.

Other Requirements:

Valid driver’s license.

Complete and submit all required supporting documents, including a CV, ID, and Matric Certificate or N3 Qualification. Only complete applications will be reviewed.
