Job Overview
South African Breweries (SAB) is offering a Packaging Learnership to unemployed South African youth who wish to gain practical workplace experience while completing a nationally recognised qualification. The learnership is offered on a one-year fixed-term contract and leads to a National Certificate in Food and Beverage Packaging (NQF Level 3).
Job Purpose
The purpose of the Packaging Learnership is to provide learners with the opportunity to enrol for a national qualification registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). Learners will participate in structured on-the-job and off-the-job training within SAB’s manufacturing and packaging environment, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in a real workplace setting.
Key Responsibilities and Learning Outcomes
- Participate in a structured learnership programme combining theoretical and practical learning
- Complete off-the-job training covering food and beverage packaging principles
- Apply theoretical knowledge through supervised workplace exposure at SAB sites
- Develop technical, operational, and safety-related skills within a packaging environment
- Demonstrate competence through workplace assessments aligned to SAQA-registered unit standards
- Adhere to quality, safety, and operational standards at all times
Learnership Programme Details
- Leads to a national qualification registered on the NQF
- Qualification is aligned with SAQA-registered unit standards
- Unit standards reflect value-adding workplace skills
- Competence is assessed using multiple assessment methods in the workplace
- Performance is measured against defined outcomes and assessment criteria
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 qualification
- Mathematics and English passed in Matric
- Technical qualifications (N3, N4, N5 or N6) will be an added advantage
- South African citizenship
