About the Position

The Learner Artisan: Millwright role offers an exciting opportunity to train and develop as a qualified Millwright. This apprenticeship aligns with the requirements of the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) and the National Artisan Moderation Board (NAMB). Successful candidates will gain hands-on experience and develop technical skills critical to the maintenance and improvement of plant and equipment systems.

Key Responsibilities

-As a Learner Artisan, you will:

-Demonstrate competence in pre-defined areas within the plant, mine, equipment, and systems.

Utilize the plant maintenance documentation system effectively.

Understand and implement work management systems for planning and scheduling.

Apply plant and mine-specific process knowledge, adhering to safety management systems such as IMS and MBO.

Conduct hazard identification and task risk assessments to ensure workplace safety.

Participate in daily team meetings to discuss work assignments and progress.

Support business goals by meeting deadlines and providing feedback to supervisors.

Contribute to root cause analyses and risk assessments to enhance safety and operations.

Maintain high housekeeping standards and adhere to waste disposal procedures.

Engage in quarterly performance appraisals for continuous personal development.

Lead by example, demonstrating initiative and teamwork.

Assist in creating work instructions to build team competence.

Contribute to maintenance strategy and conduct physical inspections to ensure plant sustainability.

Provide feedback to improve processes and ensure the timely replacement of critical spares.

Education and Qualifications

  • A Matric certificate (Grade 12) or N3 qualification (or equivalent) is required.
  • Experience: 0–1 year of relevant experience in a related field.

  • Strong understanding of workflow management, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to plan and execute tasks effectively.
  • Commitment to personal and professional development.
  • Demonstrates self-awareness and accountability.
  • Capable of managing complexity and adapting to change.
