Job Description
Eskom is looking for twelve qualified Nuclear Plant Operators to join the Koeberg Operating Unit in the Western Cape. The successful candidates will be responsible for operating the plant according to specified instructions and procedures, ensuring safe and efficient plant performance. This role requires individuals who are highly attentive, safety-conscious, and capable of responding effectively to various plant conditions and emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate the nuclear plant in compliance with operational procedures and safety regulations.
Perform troubleshooting and fault-finding activities to identify and resolve plant issues.
Respond effectively to plant transients during both normal operations and accident conditions.
Participate in fire, medical, and rescue emergency response as required.
Minimum Requirements
Qualification(s):
- Grade 12/NCV4/NSC3 with Mathematics and Science at NQF 4 (120 credits).
Related Minimum Experience:
- Completed Nuclear Learner Plant Operator Training or equivalent experience as a plant operator at a power station.
Skills and Competencies
Leadership:
- Strong team player with the ability to motivate, coach, and mentor team members.
Behavioural:
- High levels of integrity, honesty, trustworthiness, and professionalism.
Knowledge:
- Familiarity with plant safety regulations and basic safety protocols.
- Completion of applicable NPO course.
- Competence in Fire Fighting Part 3 and First Aid.
- Ongoing requalification training.
Skills:
- Supervisory capabilities.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong communication skills and computer literacy.
