Job Description:
Standard Bank Group is calling on young, motivated individuals to apply for the Learner – PPB Credit Collections programme, a 12-month fixed-term learnership aimed at equipping unemployed youth with valuable skills in the financial services sector.
This learnership combines structured learning with hands-on experience in the Credit Collections division under Personal & Private Banking. Learners will be trained in areas such as debt recovery, customer communication, account reconciliation, and administrative support. The programme is designed to foster skills development, workplace readiness, and overall employability.
Throughout the duration of the programme, participants will receive mentorship, performance feedback, and formal instruction towards earning a nationally recognised qualification.
Applicants must be prepared to work in a fast-paced collections environment, demonstrate professionalism, and show a genuine interest in banking and credit operations.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Age between 18 and 30 years
- Must have completed Grade 12 (Matric) or a 3-year post-matric qualification
- Must be proficient in English (read, write, and speak)
- Must be computer literate
- Must not be employed permanently or studying at a tertiary institution
- Must not be registered or have participated in any previous learnership
- Must be available full-time for the 12-month contract
Core Functions:
- Assist with credit account management and debt collection activities
- Engage with clients to discuss payment plans and resolve arrears
- Support the credit team with admin tasks and performance tracking
- Participate in learning modules and formal training assessments
- Meet service and productivity targets within the unit
- Apply banking standards and maintain customer confidentiality
