This opportunity is designed to help unemployed youth enter the job market and gain valuable practical experience in a fast-paced retail environment. Successful applicants will be appointed on a 12-month fixed-term contract and will receive workplace exposure while supporting the daily operations of The FIX store.

The programme forms part of the Youth Employment Service initiative, which aims to provide young people with their first meaningful work experience and improve their future employment prospects.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Applicants must be between 18 and 28 years old.
• A Matric or Grade 12 qualification is preferable.
• Applicants must be available and willing to work on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract.
• Candidates should not have been permanently employed by one employer continuously for more than one year.
• Applicants must not be studying full-time during the employment period from April 2026 to March 2027.
• Candidates must not have previously participated in or been registered for the YES Programme.
• Applicants must be able to arrange and pay for their own accommodation and transport, where applicable.
• Candidates should be willing to work in a retail environment and assist customers professionally.
• Applicants should have good communication and interpersonal skills.
• An interest in fashion, retail and customer service will be advantageous.

Core Functions and Responsibilities

The successful Sales Associate may be required to perform the following duties:

• Welcome customers and assist them with product enquiries.
• Help customers find suitable clothing, footwear and fashion accessories.
• Provide friendly and professional customer service.
• Assist with merchandising and maintaining attractive product displays.
• Ensure that shelves, rails and promotional areas are neat and properly organised.
• Replenish stock on the sales floor when required.
• Assist with receiving, unpacking and arranging new stock.
• Maintain cleanliness and order throughout the store.
• Support the store team during busy trading periods.
• Assist customers at fitting rooms and ensure garments are returned to the correct areas.
• Follow company policies, procedures and health and safety requirements.
• Help prevent stock losses by remaining alert and reporting suspicious activity.
• Participate in workplace training and development activities offered through the programme.
